GENERAL

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Applications. | Punching is generally applied where a flexible production of small and medium batch sizes is required. Especially when standard contours have to be processed quickly or when laser machining is uneconomic or even technically impossible.

Common Shapes. | Round Tools, Oblong Tools, Square Tools, Offset Dies

Material. | The material has to withstand enormous punching forces and temperatures along the cutting edge. High wear-resistance and best tool lives are required. That’s why the tools are made of high speed steel (HSS).

Coating. | The coating prevents an accumulation of material along tool edges. Metallic materials with special surface characteristics are required. A thin coating layer of a few microns is sufficient. Further more, coatings increase tool lives.
